Tatiana Maslany Talks About Her Favorite Clone As 'Orphan Black' Season 3 Premiere Nears

| By

With the "Orphan Black" season 3 premiere getting nearer and nearer, the show has treated fans to a handful of spoilers and teasers to aid them in the excruciating anticipation of the hit sci-fi series.

As the members of the Clone Club should know by now, the third run of the BBC America TV series will deal with the arrival of male clones created by Castor, the rival of Leda which created female clones. At least three of these male clones were introduced by the end of the season 2 finale last year.

Now, while the "Orphan Black" season 3 premiere episode is pretty much an open book, Tatiana Maslany takes her fans back at the two earlier seasons in an interview with GQ magazine. There, she talked about the challenges of portraying more than seven difficult characters and her most favorite one so far.

"There's a freedom in that, in getting to express the things that you don't necessarily express on a day-to-day basis," Maslany said when asked if she finds it challenging to play multiple, difficult roles in "Orphan Black.

"I think we all have so many facets to ourselves, and as actors we get to explore those different facets. With this show, I get to play Cosima at the same time as I get to play Sarah, so I get to see both sides of the coin. It's just so much fun. Regardless of how I come off on the outside, those things exist in all of us. Helena's definitely a part of me, and Rachel for sure is a part of me, but maybe not the socially acceptable part that I reveal on a day-to-day basis."

Many fans have their own biases when it comes to the question as to who is the best clone there is. Sarah Manning, Alison Hendrix, Helena, Cosima Niehaus and Rachel Duncan, all these clones are different from each other.

They also have their own solid fan base, making it hard for writers to kill any of them. If it is Tatiana you will ask, her favorite clone is Helena, the Ukrainian assassin and religious fanatic.

"I really like the Ukrainian one. It's not that we're necessarily being super true to how somebody actually sounds. We have fun with it," the Regina, Canada native said.

"Orphan Black" season 2 premiere is on April 18 and will be broadcast in five different networks namely BBC America, AMC, IFC, SundanceTV, and We TV.
