Aside from Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson being confirmed as Black Adam, there's not much "Shazam" movie news around.
Over the past weeks, the pro wrestler-action star has been very vocal about his role in the upcoming movie DC slated for 2016. He revealed he will play the villain role in August of last year. So far, Warner Bros. is yet to name who will play the title role.
In this latest "Shazam" movie news, again courtesy of Johnson, there is not much development. Still, he makes a very interesting argument. In an interview with Digital Spy, the 42-year old actor said Black Adam is a more interesting character than Shazam, reason why he chose to portray it instead of the title role.
"It's a mythology that I love," Johnson said. "It's been with me for almost 10 years now. What made me choose Black Adam is was, I just felt like Black Adam was inherently more interesting to me, because I felt like there were more layers to Black Adam, starting out as a slave, then ultimately becoming the anti-hero that we know today. But I've always said that's got to be earned."
Is he right, comic fans? Maybe the actor who will play Shazam will say otherwise. So far, there is no scoop yet as to who will play the title role.
Johnson said In an interview with MTV they are still halfway on the script and he is excited to reveal more "Shazam" movie casting news if he has his way.
"No..." Johnson said when asked who will play opposite his Black Adam a few weeks ago.
"I can't wait to share more casting news by the way. No, we haven't picked a Shazam yet, and we have been working on the script. Half the scripts [have] already come in. Fantastic, very excited about it. And what I'm really excited about is - because, again, I've lived with this character, and this opportunity for almost 10 years now, so it's like, in my DNA! I'm like a little kid, and it's the opportunity to create his journey, but that journey has to start out properly."
