343 Industries confirmed that it will bring back 'Halo' on PC, 'Halo Online' will be a multi-player only and a closed beta that will be exclusively distributed in Russia. This move has suggested as Microsoft's move "to welcome new fans to the Halo universe," according to a post on Halo Waypoint.
"Halo Online is a learning opportunity for us as we explore ways to welcome new fans to the "Halo" universe. We're excited to release a "Halo" multiplayer-only PC experience tailored for Russian gamers," a post on Halo's official website.
"Halo Online" is being developed with Saber Interactive (who helped on the Halo: Master Chief Collection Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary) and Russian publisher Innova Systems. The game runs on the modified engine of "Halo 3" that would allow low-end PCs run the game.
Though the "Halo" series has been well received since it was launched, the company has no plans to bring "Halo Online" to Xbox and Xbox 360 as of the moment as it claims to "it's being built ground up for PC" and "no plans to bring Halo Online to the Xbox One," NDTVreported.
"Right now our focus is on learning as much as we can from the closed beta period in Russia. Theoretically, any expansion outside of Russia would have to go through region-specific changes to address player expectations," as explained on Halo's official website.
Meanwhile, the game developers also added that "the game will have an in-game economy, though it's not clear what kind of purchases players will be able to make" and will follow its story line as laid on Halo Waypoint, The Verge reported.
"Halo Online is set on a secret UNSC space installation called Anvil, where Spartan-IV soldiers train together in war exercises to sharpen their battle skills and test experimental technology."
