Apple announced the highly anticipated iPhone 5 this Wednesday and preorders for the phone are already sold out and Samsung won't be taking this new competition lying down.
In a new ad the Korean electronics company will begin printing on Sept. 16, Samsung has stacked the specs of its Galaxy S III smartphone against the newly-announced iPhone 5 as it attempts to lure potential Apple customers away from its new phone offering. According to Digital Trends, Samsung is currently filming a new anti-Apple ad likely targeting the new handset (and its fans).
Since the ad has been released by Samsung, it is promoting S III and the copy says, "It doesn't take a genius," and follows that with, "The next big thing is already here, Galaxy S III."
Samsung tries to tout the Galaxy S III as the better phone by offering a longer list of specs compared to the iPhone 5. It also boasts some features which are better than Apple's in terms of HD resolution, talk time and RAM. It also features near-field communications (NFC) technology, not included in the iPhone 5, which allows users to pay at checkout with a mobile phone.
Samsung does omit some popular, well-known features of the iPhone 5 like FaceTime, iCloud, and iTunes integration. The ad also compares the Android 4.0 against the iOS 6.0 which actually works against Samsung since the iOS is this year's version, while the Android is already a year old.
Last month the iPhone's main competitor, Samsung's Galaxy S3 smartphone, outsold the iPhone 4S for the first time ever, though admittedly this may have been in part down to Apple fans holding out for the soon-to-launch iPhone 5.
