There have been reports that Harmony Korine's "The Trap" will feature a star-studded cast which include James Franco, Robert Pattinson and Al Pacino.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the three actors are already in final talks to join Benicio Del Toro and Idris Elba.
Jamie Foxx was supposed to star in the movie, but he was replaced by Idris Elba.
The "Thor" actor will portray the role of a gangster rapper while the "Guardians of the Galaxy" star will play his best friend, who took the fall for a robbery that they committed in the past.
According to The Wrap, Focus Features is currently in negotiations to acquire the rights to the film in the United States. Unfortunately, their representative refused to comment about that.
The movie will be written and directed by Harmony Korine who gained fame for his work in "Spring Breakers" and produced by John Lesher who is known for "Birdman". Charles-Marie Anthonioz of Iconoclast and Marc Schmidheiny of DCM Film will co-produce the movie.
THR revealed the plot of "The Trap", which focuses on lead characters Rico (Elba) and Slim (Del Toro). Rico was enjoying a night at the Grammy Awards when his former friend Slim showed up to seek revenge for marrying his girlfriend whom he has a son with.
Robert Pattinson stars as Max, who is the leader of Uzi-weilding surfers. James Franco, on the other hand, will portray the role of Rico's manager, who is hooked on cocaine. Al Pacino will play the parole officer of Slim.
Harmony Korine was asked at the TIFF about his upcoming movie "The Trap". "The script is written. I'm putting the cast together right now, it's going to be my most ambitious film, and I'm really just going to go for it," he said as reported by Looking For More.
The director also revealed how huge the movie is and when they'll start working on it. "It's some next level shit. It's a revenge movie, a sprawling, very intense... I don't want to give away too much, but we're probably going to start shooting in Miami after the New Year," he said.
"I'm goin' for it. Any particular reason why Miami? Yeah, just the way the sky looks. And you've got Robert Pattinson locked down? It'll have a substantial cast," Korine further explained. It looks like "The Trap" will be bigger than "Spring Breakers" having such a star-studded cast.
