'Vikings' Season 3 Episode Guide: What's Next For Lagertha After Her Power Was Usurped?

| By

Nothing is going right for the main characters of History channel original TV series "Vikings." Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) and his crew has returned from Mecia only to find out one of their friends has died. Siggy (Jessalyn Gilsig) is gone after being left drowning by the creepy Harbard, a.k.a. The Wanderer (Kevin Durand). The Norsemen, especially Rollo (Clive Standen) were shocked by this news. Meanwhile, Bjorn is having problem with his wife-to-be who was severely wounded in one fight while Floki is growing more suspicious about Ragnar's closeness to Althestan. According to recent "Vikings" season 3 episode guides, friendship of the two will continue to grow.

Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) is another character who's going through tough times. Over at her territory in Hedeby, her position as Earl was usurped by Kalf (Ben Robson), one of the person she trusted the most ever since moving away from Kattegat. Is she officially out? Will that bring her down for good? In a "Vikings" season 3 episode guide she shared with Zap2It, Winnick said fans should not count Lagertha just yet. That just like the previous hurdles she's had, Lagertha will find a way to become victorious.

"I like it because [creator] Michael [Hirst] doesn't allow me to get comfortable," the Canadian actress said.

"With my character you never know what you're going to get. You never know how Lagertha is going to react. Each time you think she's safe or finally in a position of happiness or strength, you find out that she isn't."

For Ben Robson, he thinks his character Kalf is doing a bold move of stealing Lagertha's power. However, he insists Kalf know what he is doing and that he has a plan.

"I definitely had an essence of what I was doing for sure," Ben told Access Hollywood about that big revelation in the last "Vikings" season 3 episode. "It was a really, really interesting thing to do and obviously, knowing what Lagertha is like - it's a very bold decision that Kalf decides to make."

"I think it's the first step of recognition," Ben said of why Kalf is seeking fame. "I mean, I think for the Vikings, it's to be recognized by the gods, to be fighting by Odin's side in the war of the gods in Valhalla."
