The 2014-15 season Los Angeles Lakers is a flat out disaster for a team with such a rich history. While the year is basically a waste for many fans, the team has found a gem in one of its rookies. Jordan Clarkson stats gone up drastically since being promoted into a starter last month. The 6'5 guard out of Missouri had limited minutes at the start of the season. There was even a point when he goes back and forth from NBA to the NBA D-League. Now, he is becoming an asset and has carved his spot in the rotation of coach Byron Scott.
Jordan Clarkson stats are improving and Lakers are looking for some assets to prepare for the future. Does this mean he could be traded anytime soon? Sports World Report wrote, quoting the Orange County Register, letting go of the hardworking rookie may not be an option. In fact, the 22-year old 2014 46th overall draft pick is undergoing lessons with team superstars Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash to improve his game.
According to Los Angeles Lakers coach Byron Scott, the improvement on Jordan Clarkson stats could be attributed to the kid's lessons with Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash. Clarkson now averages 4.9 points per game off the bench to 14.0 as a starter.
"You start seeing some of the stuff that Steve is talking with him about," head coach Byron Scott said, via the Orange County Register.
"Sometimes it's easier to relate to a player like that than it is to us as coaches. Because we're sitting there saying, 'The pocket pass is open. Jordan, the pocket pass is open.' Steve is showing you how to throw it in his own unique way, I think is even more important."
Lakers assistant coach Mark Madsen is also impressed with Jordan Clarskon. He is more especially amazed with the player's improving rebounding skills.
"To rebound the basketball, you have to have a few things," said Madsen, who won championship rings in 2001 and 2002 as a backup power forward for the Lakers. "Jordan has heart, he has tremendous timing and he has a desire to get the ball. He's got a nose for the ball and he's tough."
