Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" movie adaptation has been heavily rumored to have been dropped by Warner Bros. when the studio company released its movie schedule, where it did not include the film about Morpheus the Lord of Dreams.
However, Gaiman himself clarified the rumors saying that the project is still a go, by explaining why "Sandman" was not included in the list of Warner Bros. movie schedule.
"It's not a DC Comics film. It's a Vertigo film. That's a different slate of films, and a different announcement," Gaiman explained to a fan on Tumblr.
David S. Goyer even assured fans that this time around, bringing the story of the Lord of Dreams on the big screen has a better chance than the previous attempts.
"I hesitate to definitively say when it might go before the cameras, but the one thing different between other iterations and ours is that Neil Gaiman has been in the room with us and is a vital part of the team... We have a draft Warners is very happy with and we're moving forward, knock on wood," he said in an interview with Deadline.
Meanwhile, "Dark Knight Rises" star Joseph Gordon-Levitt who has been confirmed to be involved in the "Sandman" movie adaptation is said to be only directing the film instead of starring in it as well.
In his AMA in reddit, Gordon-Levitt who shared progress about the movie did not mention anything about starring in the film, instead he revealed to have been working on the screenplay instead.
"Been doing a lot of work with David Goyer and Jack Thorne, working on the screenplay. We've been doing our meetings at the DC office, which is a frickin rad place to work. Also just had a great conversation last week with David and Mr. Gaiman. Neil has been extremely big hearted with me, and he's the one I want to please most," he explained to a fan who asked about the movie.
