While Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan have instantly become big stars following box office success with "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie, the sequel is reportedly not looking good.
Director Sam Taylor-Johnson allegedly left the franchise following a feud with the best selling novel's author, E.L. James.
"Sam won't be back for the 'Fifty Shades' sequels. She wants out and Universal knows that's the right decision," an alleged "senior film insider" told The Sun.
"Her relationship with Erika has become absolutely toxic - they despise each other and blame each other for the problems with the film."
The row between Taylor-Johnson and James reportedly grew over the author's desire to gain more control over the movie adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey."
"All the biggest arguments were about the sex scenes in the film. Erica wanted the movie to be loyal to the book and much more explicit," the insider explained.
"But Sam pushed back because she wanted the movie to be more than just a collection of S&M scenes."
The author who reportedly has a multi-million contract with Universal Pictures was granted creative control over the project, "that made life on set completely impossible for Sam."
"Directors usually have the ultimate control over what goes on in a movie, but in this case Erica was questioning literally the most minor things," the source further explained.
"She was able to have the final say over the cast, the costumes and, crucially, the script. They're both very powerful and assured women so there was clash after clash after clash."
While the feud between the two was not confirmed, it can be noted that the "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie director once admitted to having issues in working with the author.
"It was difficult I'm not going to lie," she admitted in a previous interview Porter magazine. "We definitely fought but they were creative fights and we would resolve them.
"We would have proper on-set barneys, and I'm not confrontational, but it was about finding a way between the two of us, satisfying her vision of what she'd written as well as my need to visualise this person on screen but, you know we got there."
"Universal has not yet announced anything pertaining to sequels," a rep from Universal Pictures reportedly claimed.
While there has been no official announcement about a "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie sequel, the film's box office success is something Universal Pictures is reportedly considering in pursuing with the franchise.
