While PS4 gamers have been expecting an "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" this year, Naughty Dog has officially announced that they decided to push back the game's release date for next year.
In an official announcement via PlayStation blog, game directors Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley explained the reason behind the decision while promising gamers could expect a "high standards" from the new title.
"Since we showed you our first gameplay reveal of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, more of the game and story have come together, and it's become clear to us that this game is much more ambitious than we originally envisioned," Druckmann and Straley said.
"We've made the difficult choice of pushing the game's release date. Giving us a few extra months will make certain that Uncharted 4: A Thief's End not only meets the team's high standards but the high standards that gamers have come to expect from a Naughty Dog title."
While the gaming studio confirmed that "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End's" release date for PS4 is delayed until Spring of 2016, they also announced that this will be the last for the gaming franchise.
"The team at Naughty Dog will be heads down working through 2015 making sure that Nathan Drake's story gets the closure it deserves. Come Spring 2016, you and Nate are in for one thrilling, emotional ride."
In addition to the well deserved ending of Nathan Drake's story, a recent report from Push Square claimed the game will also feature a multiplayer option.
Naughty Dog reportedly posted a job listing for layout artist, game designer and programmer with multiplayer skills who will reportedly work on "Unchartered 4: A Thief's End" before the release date would be announced.
The company is reportedly looking for people who could provide "beautiful looking and beautifully playable multiplayer levels from existing single player art.
