The "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" spinoff is already two weeks in.
Is the second episode better than the pilot episode? Find out in this week's "CSI Cyber" recap.
Whereas the first episode dealt with an unconventional kidnapping, the new CBS show dealt with a more serious crime last Wednesday night.
People would normally think of hacking as something that doesn't necessarily result in death or carnage but this week's episode proved that it certainly can.
FBI Special Agent Avery Ryan (Patricia Arquette) and her team of "deep web" specialists investigate a rollercoaster crash which apparently happened when a mysterious man with a penchant for gore hacked into the system. They managed to track the suspect down thanks to Nelson's (Shad Moss) approved foray into the darker side of the Internet.
They discover that the suspect is going to take over the subway system in downtown Boston to create a larger accident and more gore.
In his attempt at saving the people inside the train, Agent Elijah Mundo (James Van Der Beek) gets stuck inside the vehicle of death. He ends up having to manually pull out the Bluetooth device serving as the suspect's remote control that's stuck outside the moving train.
In the meantime, Agent Ryan locates the perpetrator by following the Bluetooth signal and her people reading skills.
However, the biggest question in this "CSI Cyber" recap is what the suspect's personality was.
"The suspect is some generic creepy white dude whose truly fascinating pathology remains unexplored," the "CSI Cyber" recap from Gizmodo stated about this episode's flaw.
The suspect was too "convenient" and evoked no feelings from viewers.
Another question raised was how Agent Ryan was able to quickly determine that the suspect was a "gore porn" enthusiast using the evidences uncovered by her team as well as her own psychology skills.
Meanwhile, the show did attempt at helping its viewers understand some of the technical terms being thrown around in the freshman show. A definition of "black hat" (basically a hacker with malicious intent) was posted in the beginning of the episode.
