Boring Floyd Mayweather Jr – Manny Pacquiao Fight Is What Will Happen According To Juan Manuel Marquez

| By

The hype surrounding the Floyd Mayweather Jr - Manny Pacquiao fight is quite big. Why not? These two are the biggest of their generation. They are the most accomplished and boast great record. Plus, this mega fight is something the public has been requesting for more than five years now. So, when the two announced that they are indeed going to meet on the ring, boxing fanatics rejoiced while some had a sigh of relief that it won't be labeled as 'the greatest boxing match that never happened.'

Not everyone is excited this for this fight though. For equally accomplished pro boxer Juan Manuel Marquez, the Floyd Mayweather Jr - Manny Pacquiao fight will turn out to be a boring fight because of the style of the American fighter. He thinks Floyd will more likely refuse to engage, a style he has been using ever since, in order to prevent a knockout as Manny always attacks.

"Floyd's style and technique has given him 47 wins, so why take a risk in the biggest fight of his career? Floyd is a technical fighter who can make it a boring fight if that suits him," Marquez told ESPN Deportes when asked about the Floyd Mayweather Jr - Manny Pacquiao fight.

"But I think for me, in terms of the fight, if it can be a quiet fight for Floyd. He's going to take that and look to get a clear decision."

If there's anyone who have all the rights to speak about the technical side of the Floyd Mayweather Jr - Manny Pacquiao fight, it is Marquez. The Mexican boxer fought both fighters. He went up against Pretty Boy in 2009 and lost and against Pacquiao four times in a span of five years. The last of which saw him put the Filipino fighter to sleep in the sixth round.

As to who has the advantage between the Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao, Marquez thinks it would not matter.

"The height difference was noted [when they were together at the LA press conference], but in these kind of fights height and strength is not a big difference," said Marquez.

"Most importantly is who has the better mind in the fight, who launches their attacks better, and uses their defense better, which Floyd Mayweather know how to do well and Pacquiao must improve on."

Floyd Mayweather Jr - Manny Pacquiao fight is on May 2 at the MGM Grand Arena.
