Zombie-themed movie fans are clamoring to hear an update about Brad Pitt's "World War Z 2."
While news has been slow lately, new speculations suggest that the second installment to the franchise will deviate from Max Brook's highly acclaimed novel.
Steven Knight, who's worth noting for his work in the "Peaky Binders" TV series, is confirmed to write on the treatment of the plot for the "World War Z 2."
In his interview with Indie Wire, the writer-director confirmed that a "World War Z 2" is in development but he explained that he has jumped in the project with a "clean slate."
"I thought, 'Why not? What fun,'" he said of the sequel. "It's not quite like the other, we're starting with clean slate. When they've signed off we're on."
His statement quickly sparked rumors that the sequel to Brad Pitt's high grossing film has not yet been green lighted and that it will not be based on Max Brook's novel.
However, Screen Rant is claiming that "World War Z" will start shooting come October.
"The Impossible" director Juan Antonio Bayona has been confirmed to replace Marc Forster, following a rumored altercation between Pitt and Forster.
"Things got so bad that when Forster had notes on a scene for Pitt, they had to be relayed through an intermediary - and vice versa," Vulture previously reported of Forster and Pitt's feud.
Adding, "Ironically, Pitt, whose company, Plan B, is producing 'World War Z,' originally fought for Forster to be given the director's chair on World War Z."
Reportedly, Brad Pitt is still waiting for Juan Antonio Bayona to finish directing "A Monster Calls" movie before moving forward with the shooting.
