MTV Video Music Awards 2012: Robert Pattinson To Present, Kristen Stewart a No Show

| By

Robert Pattinson will be presenting at Thursday's MTV Video Music Awards alongside co-star Taylor Lautner and other cast members, however, ex-girlfriend Kristen Stewart will not be there to cause an awkward run-in for the former couple.

According to People, the actor will appear on stage to introduce new footage from "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2."

Meanwhile, fellow "Twilight" star and on-screen and off girlfriend Kristen Stewart will not be attending or presenting with the rest of the crew. She's expected to be at the Toronto Film Festival that same day, where she will attend a special screening of her film "On the Road." This will be Stewart's first public appearance since admitting to cheating on Pattinson back in July.

The action will start an hour earlier, at 8 p.m. EDT; MTV moved up the start time so the show would not conflict with President Barack Obama's speech at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., which is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. EDT.

And for the first time MTV will announce an award via Facebook. Best rock video will be given out early in the show's run via a "Thank You Cam" live stream that can only be accessed at MTV's Facebook page.

The lineup of performers this year includes One Direction, Pink and Alicia Keys, who'll debut a new song from her upcoming album, "Girl on Fire." In addition, Taylor Swift will give the first televised performance of "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." Rihanna will perform a remix of her song "Cockiness (Love It)" with A$AP Rocky, and then segue into "We Found Love" with help from Calvin Harris, who wrote and produced it.

Green Day and Frank Ocean will also perform, as will Nicki Minaj, with a "secret guest." Lil Wayne, who closed last year's VMA telecast, will return to debut his new single, "No Worries."

As far as presenters go, Katy Perry will hand out the first award of the night, and the rest of the presenter lineup includes Demi Lovato, Ke$ha, The Wanted, Miley Cyrus, Mac Miller, Andy Samberg, Rashida Jones and the gold medal-winning U.S. Women's Gymnastics Team, aka The Fierce Five.
