Are Jane (Gina Rodriguez) and Rafael (Justin Baldoni) really meant to be?
This is the main question running during this week's "Jane The Virgin" recap.
Justin Baldoni may be known for his viral proposal video to real life wife Emily Foxler but in the CW show, he didn't quite get the result he hoped he'd get when he kneeled in front of his baby mama and asked for her hand in marriage.
Jane and Rafael's relatively blissful coupling was definitely bound for some drama once again, following the show's telenova pattern. The said drama is slowly making its way back into the surface through Rafael's ill-fated proposal.
Will this be Michael's chance to get Jane back?
"I love you, and I want to get to marriage. I'm just not there yet," Jane told her boyfriend after a very enlightening pep talk with her mother about Rafael's proposal.
It's clear that these two people are in love with each other. In fact, they said as much the day Rafael decided to show his vulnerable side to Jane. However, it looks like they're still on the process of discovering differences and making compromises.
On the other hand, Jane still feels a connection to Michael - a compatibility that came with knowing the guy for two years.
According to Baldoni, the hurt he felt when Jane rejected and tested him (as well as seeing her interact happily with her ex-fiance) "may" drive a wedge between them.
"But doesn't it always when someone's dealing with [conflict]?" He added to TVLine about this week's "Jane The Virgin" recap. "Whether it's him doing it or her doing it or if it's just the situation, unless it's dealt with, it can cause issues. That's life."
Will they be able to resolve their issues or will Michael be able to prove that he's the better match for Jane?
