Ethan Chandler turns into a werewolf, Viktor Frankenstein kills Brona to turn her into a bride for his monster, Sir Malcolm Murray sacrifices his daughter to save a cursed Vanessa Ives. How can "Penny Dreadful" season 2 possibly get any better?
According to the Showtime series' recent featurette, things will only get more complicated and dangerous this April.
"Now that we're set up and the train leaves the station - it goes very very fast," Helen McCrory, who plays this upcoming season's new baddie Madame Kali, teased in the video.
Meanwhile, showrunner John Logan clarified what "Penny Dreadful" season 2 will all be about.
"The demon within all these characters is the thing that makes them exceptional," the executive producer shared.
"It's very passionate and tragic and scarier," Eva Green, who plays the female psychic, added.
Each character in the show is definitely fighting their own personal demons but none of them will be more pronounced than Vanessa Ives' predicament. She is literally fighting a dark entity that wants her soul. Will she be able to resist it or will she eventually lose herself to who can be assumed as the devil?
"Vanessa is very very fragile in this season. She's not in control at all," Green revealed. "The devil has sent his servants to capture her soul and they're actually more terrifying than the devil himself."
Reeve Carney previously mentioned that the cast will be dealing heavily with the cult this season. From what Green implied, Madame Kali could be leading the group to retrieve Vanessa Ives' soul and offer it to their master.
Meanwhile, the French actress also pointed out that each of them will "go in a different journey."
On the other hand, Danny Sapani, who plays the silent Sembene, believes that the group that Sir Malcolm made have grown closer to each other "which is invaluable."
