The last episode of Fox TV series "Empire" saw Andre break down in the worst possible way.
The eldest and power-hungry son of Empire Enterprises CEO Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) and Cookie (Taraji Henson) turned out to be a bipolar.
While his disorder is taking over his mind, he accidentally blurted out the family's secret. Andre also made his family known that he feels he is left out by everyone. He only got his wife Rhonda by his side (Kaitlin Doubleday) but after she signed the papers to put him in a psychiatric ward, things might change.
Did Rhonda intentionally do that? "Empire" TV series cast Katie Doubleday explains.
In earlier interview with TV Line last week, "Empire" TV series cast Trai Byers teased his character won't be happy with his wife's decision to approve his admission in a psychiatric hospital.
The tension between them will unfold by episode 10, tomorrow. As for Doubleday, she thinks the move made by her character was just for the betterment of Andre.
"I never thought about it that way!" the 30-year old "Empire" TV series told The Hollywood Reporter when asked if Rhonda is motivated by the chance of getting more role in the company.
"I think she's really heartbroken. I think the idea that her husband is gone [means] her world is shattered because everything is Empire [for them]. They're power hungry, but without him, she's not working; she doesn't go in every morning; she can never take his place. She wants him to get better and go back to work! She needs him at that freaking company so he can run [it]. It's everything they worked for for the past 10 years."
Doubleday added Rhonda and Andre always work as one and her character won't be effective without him.
"She's not scared of him at all. She knows he wouldn't be able to function without her. Even if Andre had a best friend on the show or anybody else - an ally - maybe that would be different. But he spends his time with Rhonda or working, and that's it. And this has happened for so long, over all of these years, they're such a unit. He had a breakdown really early on in their relationship, and she's sort of the only person that he's ever been super close to. Everything they do, they do together."
Doubleday and the rest of "Empire" TV series cast will return tomorrow for the episode titled "Sins of the Father."
