Fans are wondering what they can expect from "Fantastic Four" reboot because the previous remake didn't do well in the box office.
Even if it starred some of the biggest names in Hollywood such as Jessica Alba (Sue Storm), Chris Evans (Johnny Storm), Ioan Gruffudd (Reed Richards) and Michael Chiklis (Ben Grimm), it only grossed around $154 million out of an estimated budget of $100 million. So what can Josh Trank do to help recreate "Fantastic Four"?
During an interview with IGN via The Inquisitr, the 31-year old director revealed that the reboot will be darker and grittier. He also thinks that the previous "Fantastic Four" movies were cartoonish and that style of filming can be seen in many superhero movies right now.
"The original two films to me are very similar to a lot of recent movies that have come out, in terms of that kind of cartoonish. It's just not something that me and Simon [Kinberg) are interested in as storytellers," Trank said. The first film was released in 1994 and the second one was released in 2005. "There's the opportunity to make something that is challenging and tragic and dramatic. The opportunity is right there in the material. We'd rather steer it in that direction as opposed to just embracing a tone that comes right off the page," Josh Trank explained.
The "Fantastic Four" reboot cast includes Kate Mara as Sue Storm, Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm, Miles Teller as Reed Richards, Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm and Toby Kebbell as Victor Domashev. There have been controversies on casting a black actor for the role of Johnny Storm.
According to the website, Josh Trank has worked with Michael B. Jordan before and he knows that he is right for the role. He also confirmed that Johnny and Sue Storm will still be siblings, but the storyline may differ a little. So how does Jordan feel about people who can't accept him playing the new Human Torch?
"People don't like change too much. But annoyed? Eh, you just kinda accept it, it is what it is. You can't make everybody happy. You just gotta accept that and know. I'm an actor, I have to do my job. I'm going to do my job the best I can and the way I've been doing it my entire life, my entire career," he said as reported by Cinema Blend.
Catch Michael B. Jordan and the rest of the cast this August as "Fantastic Four" reboot hits the theaters on the 7th day of that month.
