You know things are getting serious in Fox TV series "Gotham" when it starts casting people that made Batman. . . the Batman.
On March 7, Deadline reported that Lucius Fox, Bruce Wayne's crafty tech guy, will appear in the show to be played by "12 Years A Slave" and "Newsroom" star Chris Chalk. The report added that this new "Gotham" TV series cast could potentially become a recurring character in the second season.
Deadline wrote about the new "Gotham" TV series cast:
"Another key character from the DC Batman universe is heading to Gotham. Chris Chalk (12 Years A Slave) has been cast as Lucius Fox in the Fox drama series. He will appear in the penultimate episode 21 of the current first season with an option to return in season 2."
Aside from "12 Years a Slave" and "The Newsroom," Chris Chalk also had roles in FX TV series "Justified", "Law and Order" and "Homeland." He also had gigs in Broadway.
The new "Gotham" TV series cast will join a slew of characters convincingly portraying their iconic characters. There's Robin Lord Taylor as The Penguin, Cory Michael Smith as The Riddler, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Ben McKenzie as Jim Gordon, etc. Chris Chalk will play the role portrayed by Morgan Freeman in "The Dark Knight" trilogy.
In the comics, Lucius Fox is the confidante of Bruce Wayne. He also emerged as the moral beacon of the Dark Knight and then eventually became the hero's source for equipment and weapons which he use to combat the criminals of Gotham. The new "Gotham" TV series cast will appear in the finale but there is no details yet how it will happen.
Meanwhile, the rest of the "Gotham" TV series cast will return on April 19 for a still untitled 19th episode. The series based on DC characters was ordered 22 episodes.
