"Vikings" season 3 episode one and two saw Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Kimmel) as he crossed more territories in search for more gold.
According to earlier press releases, this season is basically about the mercenaries from Kattegat broadening their reach. Individually, each character will also be seen getting out of their comfort zones. The most notable of which is Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick).
Following her separation with husband Ragnar, Lagertha went on to become an Earl of Hedeby and then joined her ex husband in their conquest as a shield maiden.

In the first few episodes of the new season, Lagertha took a backseat from the intense actions on the fields and seas. Instead, she is with King Ecbert of Wessex to aid him in farming given the fact the she used to be an expert farmer. However, Ecbert has other intentions on Lagertha, that is to make her his wife.
The bad-ass shield maiden seems to be entertaining her suitor but is she falling for him? In a "Vikings" season 3 episode guide Winnick shared to Variety, that might be the case but there is a twist.
"I think she's attracted to a powerful man, and a man with so much confidence, and as accomplished as he is," Winnick said when asked for a "Vikings" Season 3 episode guide regarding her character's love life.
"[He's] teaching her new worlds, and showing her different lands and different tools that she wouldn't have seen before: the language; the religion; the artwork; the wine. There's so much that she is drawn to. I think she's fascinated with it all, but she also is very smart, and I feel like her intuition is very strong, and I don't know if she fully, ever really trusts Ecbert."
While Lagertha is kept busy by King Ecbert, she needs to watch out for her former right-hand man Kalf (Ben Robson) who is set to stage a coup. How will this affect Lagertha? That is something audience should watch out for in the next "Vikings" season 3 episodes according to Katheryn Winnick.
"How does that affect her? Does that make her stronger? Does that make her more powerful? Does it make her completely lose herself, and lose her confidence? That's something you will just have to watch and see."
