"In the spirit of its worldwide blockbuster Godzilla, Legendary Pictures presents a bold new take on the mythos of another iconic beast with Kong: Skull Island, which stars Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers and Thor series).

Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) and written by John Gatins (Flight) and Max Borenstein (Godzilla), "Kong: Skull Island" will fully immerse audiences in the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes as a team of explorers ventures deep inside the treacherous, primordial island. Legendary's story honors the foundations of existing King Kong lore, but places it in an entirely new, distinct timeline.

Thomas Tull (Godzilla, The Dark Knight, Pacific Rim) and Jon Jashni (Godzilla, Warcraft) will produce and Alex Garcia (Godzilla) will executive produce. The film will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D by Universal Pictures."

Legendary Pictures CEO Thomas Tull personally announced that "Kong: Skull Island" is happening.

"We have been tinkering around with one thing," Tull said, according to MTV, showing a clip from the planned film.

Mashable saw the teaser trailer from the movie and the publication claimed that this would probably earn box office success for Legenday Pictures.

"The teaser started with the camera panning over a roiling sea, leading to an island of dense jungle and obscured beasts," the publication wrote. "The shot tracked into a skull-shaped rock outcropping where something stirred - something big - and then rose, with the dark profile of a giant ape. He roared, he beat his chest, and the words 'Legendary's Skull Island' appeared."

Adding, "Previous works have touched on the island, but staying and exploring this mysterious and dangerous place offers Legendary the opportunity to take audiences deeper inside this rich world with a style and scope that parallels other Legendary productions. The film will be released on November 4, 2016."
