Following the record breaking success of "The Last: Naruto The Movie" in Japan and now in the U.S. the sequel to Masashi Kishimoto's manga is reportedly actively gearing up.
"Boruto: Naruto The Movie" is confirmed to hit theaters in August this year.
While details of the highly anticipated sequel has been kept under wraps, Kishimoto gave out some vital information about the project's development.
"I conceived a story in which Bolt and [Sasuke's daughter] Sarada appears. Sasuke and Sakura also appear," the manga's creator revealed according to Anime News Network.
He did not however provide more details about Boruto [Bolt] and Sarada's role other than the plot would focus on their story.
Kishimoto however mentioned that while the manga has ended, he continued working on the characters and has even managed to visualize Boruto's special fighting skills.
"Even though the manga ended, I haven't taken a break," he admitted.
"I am also thinking about Bolt's lethal technique."
While Kishimoto may have already envisioned Boruto's fighting technique, he did not reveal the relationship between Hinata's son and Sakura's daughter.
According to VC Post, there is "a possible romantic relationship between Boruto and Sarada," citing that the last chapters of the manga, where "The Last: Naruto The Movie" sequel is going to be based, showed that Sakura's daughter is very much interested in Boruto.
Junko Takeuchi, Naruto's voice actor, also confirmed that "The Last: Naruto The Movie" sequel is in the works.
"I can't possibly guess what's it about," she said of the sequel. "But I'll enjoy it."
"The Last: Naruto The Movie" is currently holding the record for the highest opening sales in the "Naruto" franchise and is expected to grow following its February release in the U.S.
