Following the huge comeback with Grammy award-winning album, Random Access Memories, in 2013 and 2014, Daft Punk is reportedly working on a new follo up record.
Speculations suggest that the electronic funk duo composed of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel De Homem-Christo, is now back in the studio to record new tracks for a highly anticipated album.
Rumors allegedly sparked when the duo failed to show up in a supposed tour early last year. Fans began to assume that Daft Punk is busy working on a new album, thus their tour did not push through.
While fans excitingly wait for Daft Punk to release a new record, French Xavier Veilhan featured the "Get Lucky" duo in his exhibit, without the iconic masks.
"The funny thing is I didn't even ask them," Veilhan said of Daft Punk's decision to unmasked themselves for the art exhibit, via phone interview with Consequence of Sound.
"It was a very logical response to my proposal: I proposed to introduce them as producers, not as musicians, and so after talking to them, we decided that they should appear with their civilian names. [...] They proposed to me: 'Okay, we should make the sculpture the non-existing image of us. So if somebody wants to see how we are like in real [life] they'll have to look at the sculpture."
The sculpture made out of wavy toned Birch wood of the famous electronic funk duo is on display at Galerie Perrotin's New York and Paris locations.
In addition to Daft Punk, Veilhan also featured Radiohead's Nigel Godrich, Giorgio Moroder, Pharrell Williams, Rick Rubin, and Lee "Scratch" Perry as statues.
