Floyd Mayweather Jr. – Manny Pacquiao fight is something that the world has been waiting for.
For more than half a decade, the two camps were dodging each other but after meeting in an NBA game last January, the two finally came up with a decision.
Most discussions before are largely about whether the two will meet for real on the boxing ring. Now, a more interesting talk is up. Who between the two of the most decorated boxers of the recent generation will win in? Boxing legends made themselves heard.
For retired and most recent undisputed world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis, Floyd Mayweather Jr. – Manny Pacquiao fight will be a battle of two different styles. As to who will come out triumphant, it will depend on who has the bigger heart.
“I think Floyd has so much talent and quickness, that natural ability to win," the retired British boxer Lewis said in an interview with BBC Radio Live's Sportsweek. It really depends on his heart. Pacquiao has a lot of heart.”
“Pacquiao is a great guy when it comes to offense and trying to break a person down. He’s trying to knock you out so it’s a great match-up between styles.”
Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar De La Hoya, also once a victim of Pacquiao punch, thinks the Filipino fighter should fight with anger to be able to overcome Mayweather.
“Pacquiao needs to fight this fight angry,” said Da La Hoya via ESPN Deportes said when asked about the Floyd Mayweather Jr. – Manny Pacquiao fight.
“He has to attack and throw a lot of punches. He can’t get tired. He has to use his feet to move laterally. He has to use his angles. If he does that, he has a good chance to win.”
Mike Tyson thinks Floyd Mayweather Jr. is going to lose to Pacquiao if the previous will just keep on dodging and refuse to attack in earlier rounds.
“Floyd got to fight in the first couple of rounds," he said in a video posted by The Sweet Science on Facebook. "He has to fight. If he’s not going to score, he is going to lose the round. Also, if he is laid back, he is going to lose the round.”
