It was just last Feb. 22 when the public last saw Jared Leto's hair and beard in all its glory when he presented at the 87th Academy Awards.
Now, he finally allowed someone to cut off his long hair for a movie role.
According to ABC News, the Thirty Seconds To Mars vocalist was the one who made the "man bun" and "man braid" popular. However, being the consummate professional that he is, he allowed "Suicide Squad" director David Ayer to cut off his hair in order to become The Joker in "Suicide Squad."
He posted a photo of the actual cutting on Instagram, captioning the shot, "I miss my beard already."
The heartbreaking snap was later followed by a beardless photo of himself with the caption "...#gone!"
Now the whole world is lamenting the demise of Jared Leto's hair.
Vanity Fair thought his ombre look was "too beautiful for this world." Meanwhile, Instyle magazine called the event the "end of an era."
Even Vogue paid tribute to the "the decade's most memorable man bun."
E! Online was still in denial, sending a vehement "No, you shouldn't, Jared Leto!" to the helmer's "Should we?" tweet with the same photo that the 43-year-old actor and singer posted on Instagram.
Others took a more optimistic view of whole thing.
"It's ok. Hair grows back," writer Roxane Gay pointed out.
While Jared Leto's hair won't be joining the Academy Award winning actor in "Suicide Squad," a star-studded group of actors will.
Cara Delevingne will be Enchantress, Jai Courtney will be Captain Boomerang, Margot Robbie will be Harley Quinn and Will Smith will be Deadshot. According to E! Online, Warner Bros. have yet to determine the replacement for Tom Hardy who had dropped out from playing Rick Flag.
