If you havent' seen the "How to Get Away with Murder" finale, walk away now as this post is full of spoilers.
Sam's hands are literally clean when it comes to the murder of Lila. He didn't do it but he ordered it. He is the mastermind of the crime and he got what he wanted through the help of a character that has been in the show since day one.
Frank Delfino (Charlie Webber), the man who's always beside Annalise but is not a lawyer, is the one who strangled Lila and put her in the water tank. This revelation left most "How to Get Away with Murder" fans at the edge of their seats.
It is not just the show's followers who were surprised by this turn of events, even the main cast themselves. Talking to Variety shortly after the "How to Get Away with Murder" finale episodes, Davis revealed that no one from them guessed that Frank has a part in the show's very first murder case.
"Everyone was in shock because we all had our theories," Davis explained. "We would talk about it on set while we're shooting, and we would laugh about it and have our specific reasons why we had the theory, but no one suspected that one."
As for Charlie Webber, his character as the main man behind the mystery somehow makes sense.
"Everyone really jumped on board and said, yes this makes sense, but it wasn't what we were thinking," Webber said,
"The way we played out the season, you had to choose Sam or Rebecca. And even though this somewhat was an extension of Sam, it wasn't physically him. I think that was really, really smart."
"How to Get Away with Murder" finale episodes saw a 13 million rise compared to the last one. The show will return this fall for a second season.
