There are rumors coming out that Robert Downey Jr. may finally do "Iron Man 4" because he recently posted a photo of the iron-clad superhero on social media to promote "The Avengers: Age of Ultron".
"You've been good so here's a new #IronMan poster from @Avengers. & on the DL, big announcement in 8 days... #getexcited," he captioned the photo on Twitter.
The 49-year-old actor also teased his fans on Facebook by sharing the same image.
"Got a little somethin for ya, folks. Just cuz you're awesome, check out this new Iron Man poster for Avengers #AgeOfUltron. And don't tell 'em I told you, but there's a big announcement coming in 8 days... Shhhhhhh...#getexcited," he captioned it.
Most of the comments mention "Iron Man 4" because until today, the future of the stand alone movie is uncertain. Marvel already revealed their lineup of films until 2019 and a fourth installment of "Iron Man" was not included in the list.
Last October, Robert Downey Jr. revealed that he won't be doing another "Iron Man" movie as reported by Us Weekly.
"There's no script for 'Iron Man 4'," the actor told David Letterman. "They do have a plan and I think they're gonna announce it." Maybe that's what the Hollywood superstar is referring to when he posted the teaser on Twitter and Facebook.
"You know, they're very secretive about it. Marvel... There will be other stuff... just between us, no [more Iron Man]. But I'm gonna do other stuff with Marvel. I'm still going to be involved with Marvel and there's gonna be plenty of fun stuff to happen," Downey Jr. confirmed.
Robert will next be seen in "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" on May 1, 2015. He is also included in the following Marvel movies: "Captain America: Civil War" (2016), "Avengers: Infinity War, Part 1" (2018) and "Avengers: Infinity War, Part 2" (2019).
The actor that plays Tony Stark will be basically releasing one movie per year except in 2017. Maybe that will be the year of "Iron Man 4" or Robert Downey Jr. may star in Marvel's new "Spider-Man" film.
