Sylvester Stallone's son Sage, who died on July 13, is confirmed to have died of a heart disease and not a drug overdose as first suspected.
His official cause of death was released by the Los Angeles County coroner on Friday after an autopsy and toxicology tests were performed following his untimely death last month at the age of just 36.
Earlier reports said that "several little baggies were foung in the bedroom which was believed to be either cocaine or crushed Vicodin.
However, no drugs were found in Sage's system aside from a sub-therapeutic level of Hydrocodone, more commonly known as Vicodin.
Sasha Czak, Sage's mother, said after his death that she believes he died from an overdose of pain killers after he underwent an extensive amount of dental surgery. Czak said she had urged him not to have so much dental work carried out in one day. According to the New York Post, Sasha said her son had five teeth extracted two weeks before he was found dead at his Hollywood home.
The report notes that atherosclerotic coronary artery disease was cited as the official cause of death and the coroner's full report is expected next week.
Friends have told People magazine that Sage often indulged in junk food, soda and cigarettes, as well as routinely took prescription medications.
A reason as to why many denounced the drug overdose theory was because of the late actor's weight. At 188lbs and 5'7", Sage didn't have the thin frame which is usually a trait of addicts.
He was also diagnosed with a heart murmur at the age of 10.
A key factor in the theory was said to be the late actor's weight.
Sage Moonblood Stallone was the oldest of Sylvester Stallone's children and appeared with his father in two films. He made his acting debut in 1990's "Rocky V," and also appeared with his father in 1996's "Daylight."
