Install Android 5.0 Lollipop Update On Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE Now Available Via CLINCH Custom ROM; Firmware Based On Android Open Source Project

A custom firmware called CLINCH ROM is now made available for Samsung Galaxy S5 owners who's been wanting to upgrade to Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

Samsung's flagship smartphone originally runs on Android 4.4.2 when it was released on April 2014. Galaxy S5 is officially avaible for an Android 5.0 Lollipop according to GSM Arena. However, those who are daring to upgrade the OS via custom firmware could do so using CLINCH ROM.

"This new ROM is based on the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) 5.0 Lollipop and comes with performance tweaks, new customisation features and many more improvements to enhance user-experience," IBTimes reported.

The unofficial firmware should be installed extra carefully in order to experience the Android 5.0 Lollipop update via CLINCH ROM.

Keep in mind that there are requirements prior to installation of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update on Samsung Galaxy S5, which can be seen below:

1. Verify if the device's model number is SM-G900F. The CLINCH ROM will work only with Samsung Galaxy S5 devices bearing the said model. Go to Settings > About Phone > Model Number.

2. Make sure that the battery life of the smartphone is not below 80 percent before pursuing with installation. This will prevent any power interruption while the device is updating.

3. The S5's USB drivers must already be installed on the PC. This will help the device to easily get connected with the computer while the installation process is ongoing.

4. Since Android 5.0 Lollipop update via CINCH ROM is an unofficial fimrware, make sure that all important data must be backed up using tools like ClockWorkMod or TWRP. The upgrade might wipe out all the information in the smartphone's memory.

5. Make sure that the USB Debugging Mode is turned on prior to installation. Got to Settings > Developer Options.
