Thanks to a tip given to TMZ by a man who claimed to be the culprit, Lupita Nyong'o's stolen dress was finally recovered in a second-floor bathroom at the London Hotel last Friday.
According to the entertainment site, the supposed thief left the custom-made Calvin Klein gown in the said bathroom after discovering that the pearls weren't real.
He and his accomplices supposedly took two pearls to have it appraised at the garment district where they learned the dress wasn't worth anything. They promptly returned the bag to allegedly expose "Hollywood's fake bulls**t."
Previous reports stated that the pearl-studded outfit was worth $150,000. Lupita Nyong'o's stolen dress was painstakingly created by 25 employees who spent 10 weeks filling it with what was reported to be 6,000 Akoya pearls.
BBC reported that the Los Angeles County Sherriff's Department is still in the process of determining whether the dress is indeed the missing Oscar gown.
Michael White from the Sherriff's office believes that they have found the real dress yet no one has been arrested.
''Whether the jewels on the dress are fake or real... we still have a burglary and we still have a grand theft,'' White said about the incident.
"I'm happy that it has been potentially recovered. It's a timeless and priceless piece of art," the 31-year-old actress said, as reported by Channel 24.
Designer Francis Acosta shared his happiness at the recovery of Lupita Nyong'o's stolen dress, saying that it will be "restored and archived" seeing "as it now represents an important moment for the brand."
Lupita Nyong'o's stolen dress captured everyone's attention at the 87th Academy Awards last Feb. 22.
The Oscar-winner teased reporters that she was "just wearing my diamonds and pearls" when she arrived for the prestigious awards show. She also said that the dress was a homage to Prince and "the sea."
