"Vikings" season 3 premiere episode saw Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) and the rest of his crew travel to Mecia, wherein they slay a whole gang of warriors including their king.
Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård) mercilessly beheaded Brihtwulf. In the next episode, Princess Kwenthrith of Mercia (Amy Bailey), who played a huge part on the raid, was not contented that his uncle Brithulf is dead. For the role he played in ruining her childhood, Princess Kwenthrith asked Ragnar to bring her uncle's head to her and she stabbed it until she is satisfied.
These scenes in "Vikings" season 3 premiere and second episode already had fans shocked. For Katheryn Winnick, who plays shield maiden Lagertha, those were just teasers. The rest of the season of the History Channel original series will be more shocking and emotional. Talking to HotXpress, the Canadian shared some major "Vikings" season 3 episode guide you need to see.
"It's going to blow your socks off! It's going to be better than you expected - filled with action, adventure and heartfelt stories. Well, the story gets deeper and each character is more defined and developed this season. With Lagertha, she has different challenges and different people in her life," Winnick said when asked what to expect in third season of "Vikings."
Winnick also said that her bad-ass character will evolve more this season. From a simple wife of a farmer, Lagertha is now an Earl while taking a crucial job as adviser in a farm. To give justice to the growth of her role in "Vikings" season 3, Winnick is also changing her appearance in the show and that includes incorporating a "rock n roll" look for her trademark hairstyle.
"I wanted to do something different when I first got the role in the beginning - I wanted to create a new hairstyle that was practical but strong," she said. "My mother, like most mothers, said, 'You look great with your hair up,' because I love to wear my hair down." *laughs*
"So I really wanted to have the braids on the side thinking that I could give a more intense look, and two braids for something stronger. I also wanted to make it look modern so I incorporated the edgy, rock 'n' roll, 'Girl With A Dragon Tattoo' look for Lagertha."
Vikings season 3 episode 3 titled "Warriors Fate" will air on March 5.
