Floyd Mayweather Jr. - Manny Pacquiao Fight: Pacman's Winning To Go To Charities Says Bob Arum

| By

It is an open secret that the Floyd Mayweather Jr. - Manny Pacquiao fight that will happen on May 2 at the MGM Grand Arena could be the richest in boxing history.

Reports have it that the fight will earn the two fighters a combined $300 million with Mayweather getting 60% of it and Manny getting 40%.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao will get the compensation they think they deserve. However, when it comes to how they will spend it, Bob Arum, Top Rank CEO and currently the Filipino fighter's promoter, claims that Manny will do better.

In an interview with ESPN, Arum broke down how much the Floyd Mayweather Jr. - Manny Pacquiao fight will earn and how the two fighters will spend their money.

"Let's assume after everything, I believe there’ll be $300 million in the pot," Arum said. "So, 60 percent of $300 million is $180 million and 40 percent of $300 million is $120 million. Buys a lot, a lotta stuff."

Arum also dissed Mayweather's lifestyle.

"Floyd loves cars, will probably buy enough cars that satisfy every motor vehicle dealer in Las Vegas," the promoter explained.

"And I know a great part of the money that Manny earns will go to support charities in the Philippines. Cause like I said, the social welfare system in the Philippines is called Manny Pacquiao."

Floyd Mayweather Jr. - Manny Pacquiao fight is dubbed to be the biggest in recent generation. In fact, boxing color commentator Larry Merchant likened it to the Mike Tyson-Lennox Lewis in 2002.

"Floyd Mayweather Jr. - Manny Pacquiao is the biggest fight since... Mayweather-Dela Hoya in terms of interest but it's more like the Lewis-Tyson in 2002," Merchant said in an interview with boxingscene.com.

"It's because how long it took to make the fight and because in a way, Mayweather is like the heavyweight champion in America. He's the guy who filled the void of real heavyweights as a box-office attraction. So in that sense, it's fair to compare them," he added.
