"How to Get Away With Murder" finale has everyone saying "I didn't see it coming."
After 15 episodes of suspicions and theories, the hit ABC drama finally solved its first ever mystery, who killed Lila? Fans have come up with their own theories regarding the murder of the student who had an affair with Sam (Tom Verica) who is the husband of the show's protagonist Annalise Keating (Viola David).
Rebecca Sutter (Katie Findlay), a friend of Lila, was the initial suspect but she had her suspicions that Sam had a part on the murder and so she investigated it with the help of boyfriend Wes Gibbins (Alfred Enoch) who is one of the prodigies of Annalise.
In doing so, Rebecca and Wes, along with two other students of Davis' character, got into confrontation with Sam wherein they eventually killed him in self defense. They hid the body with the help of Annalise and then things got messier for everyone from there on.
Sam's death remains an unsolved crime but the revelation regarding the death of Lila is a huge step for the show's storyline. That is something that "How to Get Away with Murder" will surely delve on in its second season that will air this fall.

So Sam's hands are clean when it comes to the murder of Lila. That is when you look at it literally. The truth is, Sam is the mastermind and he just ordered one familiar character to do it. Frank Delfino (Charlie Webber), the long time confidante of Annalise strangled Lila and put her in the tank.
He is not the person that most people think. He is not a lawyer but he is a lot of things. By the end of the episode, Rebecca is gone. Everyone thought she ran away but the truth is, she was killed, either by Annalise or Frank.
The ending definitely shocked the audience. No one saw it coming. Interestingly, even cast members didn't know what will exactly happen in the "How to Get Away with Murder" season finale.
Appearing at Jimmy Kimmel Live, Davis revealed that the show shot two versions of the season finale. The other ending is different but is as shocking as the one that aired worldwide.
"The one that we didn't use, I just walk down the stairs to the cellar and I'm calling Rebecca's name and I find her dead in her chair, tied up. I love the ending by the way," Davis said of the alternate "How to Get Away with Murder" finale.
She didn't speak further though because she might spoil what will happen next season.
