There were rumors that "Wolverine 3" may be released in 2017 and that it could still star Hugh Jackman.
It has been confirmed that the Aussie actor will be reprising his role Logan for the eighth time in "X-Men: Apocalypse," which will hit the theaters on May 27, 2016.
According to Cinema Blend, it looks as if Jackman will be back for a third "Wolverine" solo movie sometime in 2017. Thus, it's probably important to know that his reign is not ending anytime in the next few years. He must have changed his mind because a few years ago, the 46-year old actor said that he will retire from playing the Marvel character after his contract expires.
During an interview with Cigar Aficianado via (Movie Pilot), Hugh Jackman revealed his long-term plan for his character in the "X-Men" and "Wolverine" franchise.
"I said to my wife, 'The moral is that I should never stop playing Wolverine. I've got to find a way to keep playing him until I die,'" said the actor.
I'm sure that got many Jackman fans excited, but how does he intend to continue playing the role?
"I always want to be in better shape than I was for the last one. Every time I play Wolverine I want to go further, physically and emotionally," the 46-year old actor revealed.
Despite the desire to hold on to his character, Hugh Jackman knows that he needs to hand over his role to someone else.
"I know that someday they'll recast the role with another actor...I'd be happy if the role was eventually recast. It would mean that it had become iconic," he said.
If the rumors are true that Hugh Jackman will return in "Wolverine 3," will we see new Marvel characters appear in the third installment?
Movie Pilot thinks that Deadpool is likely to be featured in the film. The new superhero movie that will feature Ryan Reynolds will be released in Feb. 12, 2016. Thus, the actor will have enough time to shoot some scenes with Jackman after he finished the "Deadpool" movie.
According to the website, the anti-hero and the mutant have a weird love hate relationship. So "Wolverine 3" may turn out to be a buddy movie just like "Lethal Weapon."
The third sequel may end up becoming deep and wacky like what we saw in "Guardians of the Galaxy" when they realized that they are living a horrible life.
