Aside from the $400 million that they will share, one between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao will get another special commemorative award for finally agreeing to fight on the boxing ring.
As you all know by now, the highly anticipated and strongly requested Floyd Mayweather Jr. - Manny Pacquiao fight is already on and will take place on May 2 at the MGM Arena. This is dubbed as the richest in the history of boxing. To recognize that, World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman will give the winner of the match a special WBC belt, draped with expensive stones.
"For this special recognition I would like to have emeralds or platinum, but everything will be defined during the next weeks," WBC website wrote quoting Sulaiman. "This is because of the magnitude of the event (Floyd Mayweather Jr. Manny Pacquiao Fight ), which will be broadcast via TV networks globally.”
Adding, “It came in a good moment and it will be an emotive event. Both are obviously putting their legacy at stake, to prove who's the best, satisfying an enormous created expectance. They are also competing to be considered one of the best 10 fighters in the entire boxing history.”
The offer from the WBC president will surely motivate the two boxers to win. In addition to the fixed $400 million earnings, Floyd Mayweather Jr. - Manny Pacquiao fight is also set to rake in high amount of money on tickets and pay-per-view. Reports say tickets for the mega bout could cost as much as $150,000 dollars.
“Like everyone in the boxing world I cannot wait to see Floyd Mayweather fight Manny Pacquiao," Daily Mail's Eddie Hearn wrote. "I’m not sure yet whether I will make the trip – for travelling fans, the tickets will be like gold dust but more expensive."
Adding, "I am not part of the promotion and yet I have still had hundreds of calls from people asking for tickets. I have heard some interesting rumours on this one. Some people are saying tickets could trade for as much as £100,000 for ringside. I have also heard rumours that no tickets will go on general release to the public.”
