It has been heavily speculated that the upcoming sci-fi movie, "Star Trek 3" has already found its villain.

Rumor has it that "Breaking Bad" star Bryan Cranston is being eyed as the new bad guy to Justin Lin's sequel, according to Film Divider.

The giant studio company has allegedly reached out to the actor to offer a deal, which they hope he'll consider.

The entertainment website also mentioned that in addition to Cranston, the team is looking into adding three new female cast to portray the Federation President, Bone's ex-wife and a Starfleet captain.

As the movie production progress Roberto Orci who was supposed to direct and write the movie unexpectedly exited the project.

While the future of "Star Trek 3" seemed gloomy, "Fast & Furious 7" director Justin Lin came to rescue, replacing Orci to helm the sequel.

Original cast member Simon Pegg, on the other hand, was confirmed to step up and co-write the script.

And now that everything is set for "Star Trek 3" to finally move forward, both J.J. Abrams - the director of "Into Darkness" - and Chris Pine - Pegg's co-star, expressed their excitement to Pegg's new role.

"We're all really excited because I think what we enjoy about it is that we have a laugh and we want to make sure that that's still kind of embedded in there so to have Simon writing it is the perfect fit," Pine said in an interview with MTV News at Sundance Film Festival.

Abrams further explained that Pegg's knowledge in the franchise's story would be of great help in delivering the sequel's plot.

"[Pegg] and I had talked quite a bit about story, he had a lot of wonderful ideas," Abrams, who will be producing "Star Trek 3" explained. "It just sort of felt obvious that he would be a wonderful person to work on the story and help craft the story, so he's working on it."

The sequel is reportedly scheduled to hit theaters on the franchise's 50th anniversary in 2016.
