"The Imitation Game" star Benedict Cumberbatch, who is confirmed to play the titular role in Marvel's "Doctor Strange" movie recently expressed his excitement in the upcoming project.
"Excited, really excited, you know," he said when asked about his portrayal of Sorcerer Supreme at the British Independent Film Awards according to Mirror.
"There's a lot of work to be done and I'm just at the beginning of it all so I'm not going to talk too much about it's a thrilling gig to get and I can't wait. Very excited."
While this was the first time the British actor talked about the movie following the confirmation of his casting, Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige, previously expressed his optimism about Cumberbatch's portrayal of the iconic superhero character.
"Stephen Strange's story requires an actor capable of great depth and sincerity," Feige said.
"In 2016, Benedict will show audiences what makes Doctor Strange such a unique and compelling character."
And in a separate interview with Screen Rant, he further explained the importance of bringing Stephen Strange's story in the big screen.
"With Strange, it is a classic Marvel origin story because he's got one of the best origins ever," Feige explained.
"And it's our opportunity to take that left turn into the supernatural. Now, what is the definition of supernatural? It varies. We like the idea of playing with alternate dimensions. The very sort of crazy - [Steve] Ditko crazy acid trip way of traveling through dimensions and traveling through other realms is something that we think is very, very cool ... playing with the perceptions of reality."
The movie about the story of Stephen Strange is still in its early stages of development, thus no other cast has been confirmed to join the lineup aside from "The Imitation Game" star Benedict Cumberbatch.
Marvel has already announced that "Doctor Strange" movie will be released in theaters sometime in November 2016.
