While cast of Disney's "Cinderella" 2015 live action movie celebrate its successful premiere at Berlin Film Festival last week, Lily James, who plays the titular role, is being bombarded with accusations of her waist being photoshopped for the film.
However, the allegation was quickly refuted by the "Downton Abbey" star claiming that there is no truth to it.
"I think it's really important that people know I didn't because I think that would be a really bad thing if you'd photoshopped the waist because it would be like trying to create something that's not real and i think the whole time we were going for truth," James said according to Independent.
The 25-year-old "Cinderella" 2015 movie cast also explained that she had to "squeeze to within an inch of my [her] life" to be able to fit in the corset.
Director Kenneth Branagh also came to the star's defense saying that the English actress' tiny waist was just due to the corset she's wearing in the film, as shown in the trailer and marketing materials released by Disney.
"It was not, it was not," Branagh insisted when asked about the photoshop accusations involving James' waist. "I can't remember anybody during that ball sequence who went up next to her and didn't go, 'Oh my god!' Then they'd look round the other side.
"I was constantly saying, 'You are eating, aren't you Lily? Let's get Lily some soup please!' These gowns were beautifully crafted and they produced shapes that were very extreme. To all the airbrush conspiracy theorists I can answer now: no."
And to further clarify the claims about "Cinderella" 2015 movie cast Lily James' alleged photoshopped waist, BuzzFeed took time to ask an expert's opinion on the matter.
"The reality is that if someone starts with an unusually small waist measurement (by modern standards) and then wears a really well-constructed corset, you can obtain a waist measurement of 18 inches, or sometimes less, entirely by nondigital means," Catherine Clavering, founder & designer of Kiss Me Deadly told the publication.
"In this case, Cinderella's dress also has enormous volume in the bust/shoulder and in the skirt, which helps to emphasize the cinched in waist in between. The trailer and stills are all similarly proportioned, and the designer states that 270 yards of fabric were involved, with a corset and crinoline.
That doesn't mean it wasn't also helped by editing, of course."
"Cinderella" live action movie is scheduled to hit U.S. cinemas on March 13, 2015.
