Maria Sharapova is set to play at U.S. Open starting Monday, but Russian blonde beauty has been busy launching her new candy business, appropriately named "Sugarpova" and made an appearance on the Jimmy Fallon show with a sexy sheer black dress.
The former World No. 1 tennis star Maria Sharapova recently debuted her new candy company "Sugarpova," which she says took 18 months to launch from when she and her associates first discussed the concept.
"It's like I've been pregnant twice," Sharapova said jokingly, according to ESPN.
Sugarpova "the most exciting project that I've ever done ... because it's my own business, my own investment, my own money," said the 25-year-old tennis star.
Sugarpova launched with 12 different offerings of flavors at a new retail store of her partner It'Sugar, a candy company that has 40 locations around the world.
Sharapova's agent, Max Eisenbud, said this was just another step in diversifying her brand.
"We looked at a lot of things over the last 18 months that she can focus on in her life after tennis," said Eisenbud. "We met with Jeff and found that candy was different, fun and unexpected."
The candies sport fancy names and shapes. "Flirty: lips like sugar" are lip-shaped gummies, while "Sporty: The taste of victory" is a miniature of tennis balls. "Chic: Some style for your smile" gummies are shaped like handbags and dress shoes.
Meanwhile, Sharapova made a guest appearance on the Jimmy Fallon show where she wore a form fitting black dress that had sheer panels strategically located to cover her chest. She also wore black strappy sandals and chandelier earrings and looked absolutely radiant in her ensemble. Serena Williams, whom she played against at the Olympics and lost to, also made an appearance on the David Letterman show earlier this week and dazzled in a sexy Victoria Beckham designed red dress.
While heading into the first round of the 2012 US Open Championship on Monday, Sharapova is ranked third.
