'American Idol': Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban Near Deal, Katy Perry Declines $20 Mln Offer

Meanwhile, "California Girls" singer Katy Perry has denied a whopping $20 million contract from the Fox show, TMZ reports. Producers on the show allegedly pursued the singer relentlessly in a bid to have her sign on for the show.

The website claims that the star was initially offered $18million and then upped their offer to $20million for a one year contract. The report goes on to sayJennifer Lopez, who was on "American Idol" for two seasons, received $12million for her first season of the show, while Britney Spears is earning $15million for her stint on The X Factor USA this year.

Another singer that has been tapped to judge the show is 1990's hit singer Alannis Morissette. The Canadian singer told CNN earlier this week: "Yes, I have been in conversations about it, and that's the degree to which I can share the info right now. I live to mentor, so my heart is much more open to the idea of that than even 10 years ago when I, perhaps, wasn't in a position to be able to offer much advice, solicited or otherwise."

"But I love watching people and just getting really curious about what they want and what they need and what their goals are, and then I can support them. I would do it formally, for sure." No report on how much Morissette could potentially earn if she is selected as one of the judges.
