The last episode of Fox TV series "Empire" finally did what most fans want to happen, to see Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) and Cookie (Taraji Henson) rekindle their romance.
Lucious and Cookie have been estranged to each other ever since she went to prison 17 years ago. When she got out, all she wanted was get her share in the Empire Enterprises they co-built and get close to her sons. However, with recent developments, especially on Lucious' health, the kiss and make up happened between them, all witnessed by the wife of Howard's character.
The chemistry between Howard and Henson in "Empire" TV series is undeniably flowing. So, fans have this to ask, are they the end game in the Fox musical drama? Talking to TV Line, showrunner Ilene Chaiken didn't exactly say they will end up together but insists they are aware that the two actors look good together and they have plans about it.
"To talk about it specifically would be giving away spoilers - which I don't want to do. What you said is true, though, and we've been aware of it," Chaiken said in the interview held shortly after the last "Empire" TV series episode.
"But we've always had a specific plan that was based on what we believed would really happen. It was inevitable from the very beginning that Cookie and Lucious were going to hook up. It can't not. You feel it, you know it's coming. Now, whether or not it only happens once or if it's going to happen again is another story. But we knew when in the season it would happen and why it would happen. And we know where we're going and it's complicated. But everything in the Lyons' lives are complicated."
Aside from Howard and Henson, "Empire" TV series cast also includes T rai Byers as Andre Lyon, Jussie Smollett as Jamal Lyon, and Bryshere Y. Gray as Hakeem Lyon.
"Empire" TV series episode eight, titled "The Lyon's Roar" will air on Feb. 25.
