| By

Lionsgate together with series creator Haim Saban has green-lit a reboot for the 90s teenage superhero movie adaptation of "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers."

"With an extensive and extremely devoted worldwide fan base as well as a deep and detailed mythology, the Power Rangers are primed for the big screen," the studio's official announcement said.

It added that the reboot would re-visualize the Rangers as "a group of high school kids who are infused with unique and cool super powers but must harness and use those powers as a team if they have any hope of saving the world."

With the announcement come speculations of possible cast members to be included in the line up of the highly anticipated film.

Names of Hollywood stars including Taylor Lautner, Chloe Grace Moretz and Liam Hemsworth were all linked to the reboot.

However, no concrete details about "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" movie reboot cast have been announced.

One thing is for sure though, don't expect any of the original rangers from the TV in the movie.

While Jason David Frank, whose portrayal of the Green Ranger character made him famous worldwide, confidently announced that the upcoming reboot is moving forward, he also mentioned that there will be no original cast reunion happening in the movie during his interview with "Madison's 97 WKLO" radio show, Movie Pilot reports.

He failed to mention who would replace them and take over the coveted ranger roles, though.

Meanwhile, David Yost, who portrayed Billy Cranston aka Blue Ranger previously expressed his excitement with the upcoming "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" movie reboot.

"They obviously have a proven track record. And I will be very excited to see what they do with the franchise," he said in an interview with Yahoo Movies.

"I've never heard there's a curse," Yost told Yahoo when asked about the infamous "curse" rumors involving a series of unfortunate events to former Rangers cast.

Adding, "But obviously anyone who's stepping into the role of a Power Ranger - I just hope that they realize how exciting that is and the impact they will have on many people's lives throughout the world and do their best to portray a good superhero."

"Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" movie reboot reportedly, will hit cinemas on July 22, 2016.
