Watch out for "Empire" TV series spoiler ahead because this is definitely a major development in the story. In the latest episode of the Fox musical drama, Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) and ex-wife Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) have somehow mellowed down with their non-stop small fights. Not only that, they seem to be on the path of romance revival after sleeping together at the end of the last episode.
It is easy to root for Lucious-Cooke romance revival. After all, the two of them built Empire. Not to mention that they have three kids together. However, the CEO has always been deceptive. He has done terrible things before and cover them up by his good acting. So, this begs the question, is Lucious CEO truthful on his feelings for Cookie?
In an interview with TV Line, "Empire" TV series showrunner Ilene Chaiken discussed that scene and her answer and clear either.
"Here's what we believe: Cookie is Lucious' one. It's just so clear. And it was clear from the moment they appeared on screen together. It's a chemistry between the actors, but it's really the characters that Lee Daniels and Danny Strong created," she said.
"There's just such an extraordinary connection. That said, we also believe everything Lucious says he means. When he tells Anika he loves her, when he asks her to marry him, it's not just scheming, it's not just self-serving. It's what he wants in the moment. And how many men have we known just like that?"
In terms of Cookie's rivalry with Anika, "Empire" TV series fans can count on more intense war between the two.
TVLINE | Obviously, everybody loves Cookie and roots for her - but Anika showed us this week that she's willing to play dirty by slipping drugs into Elle Dallas' drink and sabotaging her comeback performance. She's in a death match to hang on to what she feels is rightfully hers.
Absolutely. And Anika showed us all she's not to be messed with. She's a formidable opponent for Cookie - and we shouldn't disregard her by any means. She's playing to win.
