From being a guy that "dunked on by Derrick Rose" to almost an NBA All-Star last year. This is the story of Phoenix Suns starting point guard Goran Dragic over the past seasons.
Now, as trade deadline approaches, it seems the next step for the Slovenian player is finding a new team. Goran Dragic trade is making the loudest noise right now in the NBA. According to reports from league sources, the 6'3" PG has already held talks with the Phoenix Suns officials and the results are not that good if you are a Suns fan.
"According to two people with knowledge of the situation, the representatives for the Phoenix Suns point guard told team officials in a Tuesday meeting that he has no plans to re-sign in Phoenix this summer as a free agent. The people spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter," USA Today wrote.
The online newspaper added that Goran Dragic trade is being pushed through as the 28-year-old player reportedly wants to have his "own team" where he will have freedom and support.
"The main issue, according to one of the people, is that Dragic wants to run his own team with the kind of freedom and support given to someone such as Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors. The decrease in production this season, as he sees it, is directly tied to the decrease in time spent as the lead guard with the host of ballhandlers that surround him," USA Today added.
Dragic had a career high of 20.3 points, 5.9 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 35.1 minutes per game last season. Those numbers suffered immensely as he is now averaging 16.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 33.4 minutes per game this season. Critics say this is because of the arrival of another point guard Isiah Thomas who the Phoenix Suns signed during the free agency.
Among those who are jumping on the Goran Dragic trade are the Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat and the New York Knicks.
