With the Marvel cinematic universe continually growing, another superhero is set to join the gang-and it is no less than Spider-Man.
"Teen Wolf" star Dylan O'Brien is one of the most resounding names involved after Marvel confirms "Spider-Man's" "return" in its cinematic universe. Where does this younger Spider-Man appear, and other details like release date for the next "Spider-Man" film and cast members revealed so far.
Recent news revealed that Marvel has struck a deal with Sony, where a new Spider-Man will appear in an upcoming Marvel film-specifically in the 2016 "Captain America: Civil Wars" movie. After which, that same Spider-Man will return for his own film, with a release date slated for July 28, 2017, according to Marvel.
In the same report by Marvel, The Walt Disney Company's Bob Iger shared, "Spider-Man is one of Marvel's great characters, beloved around the world. We're thrilled to work with Sony Pictures to bring the iconic web-slinger into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which opens up fantastic new opportunities for storytelling and franchise building."
This means that Marvel and Sony Pictures will continue their collaboration in projects involving Spider-Man: for which actor Dylan O'Brien is set to portray, and coincidentally means goodbye to Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker.
Daily Beast reports that prior to unofficial statements about a "new Spider-Man," Andrew Garfield has met with production and both parties have agreed that having him back for this new "Spider-Man" character will not make much sense, especially since Marvel has a younger version of "Spider-Man" eyed for the upcoming films.
The 23-year-old "Teen Wolf" star is said to be the first choice to portray Marvel's "Spider-Man." He has appeared in numerous films including "The First Time" in 2012, "The Internship" the following year, and "The Maze Runner" in last year, as well as its sequel "The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials" with a 2015 release date.
Logan Lerman who is known for portraying Percy Jackson in the two "Percy Jackson" films is also being considered.
