The "50 Shades Of Grey" movie adaptation had a record breaking opening over the weekend in the UK, but despite its huge success director Sam Taylor-Johnson is reportedly quitting the sequel after a series of rows with author E.L James, The Sun reported.
"Sam won't be back for the 'Fifty Shades' sequels. She wants out and Universal knows that's the right decision," a source told The Sun's Dan Wootton.
"Her relationship with Erika has become absolutely toxic - they despise each other and blame each other for the problems with the film."
The Daily Mail adds that the two had on-set arguments especially over raunchy scenes, because the author wanted it to be explicit like what she has written on the book. But Sam insisted that the movie should be "more than just a collection of S&M scenes."
"Directors usually have the ultimate control over what goes on in a movie, but in this case Erica was questioning literally the most minor things. She was able to have the final say over the cast, the costumes and, crucially, the script. They're both very powerful and assured women so there was clash after clash after clash. The whole film has not been an enjoyable experience for most of the people involved. In particular, Sam found it just too much," the source revealed.
In a recent interview with Porter magazine Sam has publicly opened up about "on-set barneys" with the bestselling "50 Shades Of Grey" author.
"We would have proper on-set barneys and I'm not confrontational, but it was about finding a way between the two of us, satisfying her vision of what she'd written as well as my need to visualize this person on screen, but, you know, we got there," the director revealed with Porter Magazine
