NBC 'Constantine' TV Series Moving To Syfy Isn't True Says The Latter Network's Boss

| By

NBC TV series "Constantine" has just aired its finale. What's sadder than that is NBC hasn't said anything about the show's renewal or cancellation. Earlier reports claim the horror series based on DC Comics Hellblazer will be moving to Syfy and will use its original name. However, according to a top official from the basic cable company, those reports are not true.

"I've heard no discussion of #Constantine moving to Syfy. I don't know where that rumor came from," Syfy senior executive Ted A'Zary said on his Twitter account regarding rumours of "Constantine" - Syfy team up.

A few weeks ago, CineLinx's Jordan Maison reported that Syfy is ready to adopt "Constantine" TV series despite most of its episode not doing well in ratings game.

"I've heard from a couple of sources now that NBC doesn't really want to give up on Constantine and are actively searching for ways to keep the show going. Let me preface the next thing I'm about say with this: the sources have made it clear that this is an IDEA/possible plan being bandied about. So it's not 100% and may not come to pass, but it is one of the more popular ideas being put out there right now amongst the show-heads."

The idea here isn't so much to keep "Constantine" going on NBC but to move it to the Syfy Channel (where the marathon they ran of the show did very well) and rebranding it as Hellblazer. The new channel would give them a little more freedom to explore some of the darker aspects of the comic and appeal to a broader fanbase."

While NBC is still mum about the "Constantine" TV series' fate, its main star Matt Ryan who's playing the title role has already set out a plan for second season. This includes a return to Newcastle where the pilot episode was located, exploring the "Dangerous Habits" material, and riding on "The Family Man" arc.

"I would love for the show to be on the air long enough to get the 'Dangerous Habits' arc because that's my favorite of all I've read," Ryan said in an interview with Zap2It.

Does NBC TV series "Constantine" deserve a second season?
