'Friday The 13th' Reboot Won't Be Following Found Footage Trend Says Producer Brad Fuller; Jason Vorhees To Hit Theaters May 13, 2016

A number of massive titles will be arriving on the big screen this year - the latest James Bond flick "Spectre," "Jurassic World," "Mission Impossible 5," "Terminator: Genisys," "Avengers: Age of Ultron," and "Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens" make up the movies that are expected to fuel 2015's cinema boom, breaking the world record set in the 70's of most movie tickets sold in a year.

Initially set to give this year's fix in the horror genre is another installment of "Friday the 13th," being developed under Paramount Pictures and Platinum Dunes, the upcoming reboot is coincidentally the 13th movie of the long running series putting the people in charge in a spot to do something special.

But delays in production caused the movie to be pushed back from its original March release date, on Friday the 13th. That spot has now been given to another reboot Paramount, "The Ring" now titled "Rings."

Platinum Dunes producers Andrew Form and Brad Fuller have confirmed director David Bruckner of "The Signal" popularity helming the project.

Bruckner made his mark in the horror genre with the "V/H/S" series, fans are expecting no less from the man in charge with Jason Vorhees' latest effort.

Even though the movie has been slow with updates and even revealed to not have a script written for it yet, Fuller claims that the reboot won't be a found footage film.

"You can't do a great kill quickly. It takes time and the blood levels. You know, every time there's a drop of blood you to change their wardrobe and shower people off. You can't rush that to get it right," he claimed in an interview with Esquire.

The last installment came out in 2009 and was directed by Marcus Dispel and starred Jared Palecki of "Supernatural" fame and Amanda Righetti. The movie centered on the origins of antagonist Jason Vorhees. Suprisingly, the movie grossed over $19 million at the box office, exceeding the individual earning of previous installments "Jason Takes Manhattan" in 1989, "Jason Goes To Hell" in 1993 and "Jason X" in 2002.
