It looks like everything is going according to plan with Fox's "Deadpool," which stars Ryan Reynolds as the "merc with a mouth."
It wasn't the easiest road for the project as it already experienced a number of problems during its planning stage including the script of the whole movie leaking online.
Wade Wilson, also known as Deadpool, first made an appearance in Hugh Jackman's "X Men Origins: Wolverine," which had original plans of giving him his solo movie shortly after.
But with "Wolverine" underperforming with box office sales added to the leaked script, the plans were dropped and the movie was shelved altogether. The movie was tucked away in 2009 and has remained dormant ever since.
Fast forward to today, the movie has been greenlit and is expected to start shooting soon.
The latest on the film reports actress and MMA fighter Gina Carano joining the cast as well as Daniel Cudmore, the actor playing character Colossus in the "X Men" films will reprise his role once more in the assassin's solo film.
The Holywood Report claims that Carano will be taking on the character Christine aka Angel Dust, a mutant whose power is releasing adrenaline in her system, making her invincible for a certain period.
Piotr Rasputin aka Colossus will be the first of many "X Men" characters expected to appear in the movie. "Deadpool's" creator, Rob Liefield has confirmed that Cyclops' son, the time-travelling Cable can also be expected to be introduced in "Deadpool's" shared universe.
The movie is helmed by Tim Miller, reported making "Deadpool" his directorial debut. Miller is better known as a visual effects artist, he is also the founder of special effects company Blur Studios.
"Deadpool" arrives on Feb. 2, 2016 and is one of three "X Men" films to be released that year.
Bryan Singer's "X Men: Apocalypse" releases on May 27 while "Gambit" starring Channing Tatum playing the title role drops Oct. 7.
