"Kingsman: The Secret Service" is showing in US cinemas today and yet, its director Matthew Vaughn is already thinking of a sequel. However, he insists the fate of a possible second installment of this spy action comedy film relies on its performance in the box office.
"Kingsman" is based on the Icon Comics title "The Secret Service" and tells the story of a young boy being recruited by his uncle to the secret service. It stars Colin Firth as the teen Harry Hart, Taron Egerton as Gary 'Eggsy' Unwin, Samuel Jackson as Richmond Valentine, and Mark Strong as Merlin.
Talking to Joblo, Vaughn, who directed "Kick-Ass", "X-Men: First Class" and "X-Men: Days of Future Past", says he is hopeful "Kingsman: The Secret Service" will have sequel but it can only happen if more people will see it.
"I'd love to do a sequel, but it's really up to the public isn't it? We've got some really bold ideas," he said.
"If you think about it, this is the origin story of Eggsy. Eggsy is now the true modern gentleman spy. So there's a journey we want to put him on. I love the idea of there being none of that training crap, this is the real modern day gentleman spy going off to deal with quite the... (stops himself) Again, there's some really crazy stuff we've got planned. But I can't do it if no one goes to see it."
"Kingsman: The Secret Service" showing in the United States is today. If you think it is good, then spread the word or better yet, try to watch it again to make the sequel more possible.
You must also not doubt the film, at least according to Vaughn. In an interview with the Entertainment Weekly a day before the "Kingsman: The Secret Service" showing date, the 43-year old director said the movie is all about fun.
"This whole movie's about having fun. It's a tough time everyone's having right now. It's a tough world; [a] lot of bad stuff happening. And I wanted to give two hours of good escapism."
